WAITARA BOY SCOUTS. (From Our Own Correspendent.) The Boy Scouts of Waitara spent a most enjoyable day on Monday last at Mr. Paton's, Kelly road, Lepperton. The Scouts left Waitara at 9»15 a.m., and marched by easy stages to their destination, carrying with them their provisions, etc. On reaching their destination they received a warm reception by Mr. and Mrs. Paton, after which Mr. Paton conducted them to a quiet spot where they enjoyed a plunge in the cooling stream which flows through the grounds. Having* refreshed thems.-ves outwardly-, a fire was lit, water boiled, and tea made, and they proceeded to refresh themselves inwardly. Before proceeding to participate in further sport, :Mr. Armstrong, who was in charge, made a small presentation to Master Stanley Clare, owing to his inability to take part in the games and races. The follow-, ing were the prize winners:—Swimming: F. Klenner 1, W. McKenzie,2. Sack race: R. Hutchison 1, G. Ciisack 2. Steeplechase: F. Klenner 1, S. Watson 2. Wheelbarrow race: S. Watson and R. Hutchieson I, F. Klenner and W. McKenzie 2. High jump: F. Klenner an<T S. Watson (equal) 1, R. Hellier and W. McKenzie (equal) 2. Hop, step and jump: S. Watson 1, W. McKenzie 2. Extra race: R. Clave 1, R. Hellier 2. The winners of the tug-of-war were: G. Sandford, J. Watson, T. Prosser, R. Hutchinson, Paton, C. Clare, H. Brabant, W. McKenzie. At half-past four the Scouts were called together, and after a vote of thanks being passed to Mr. and Mrs. Paton, were driven to Sentry Hill station, where they joined the train for Waitara.
