Archbishop Carr, speaking at Warrnambool, stated that a great crisis was approaching, threatening the social, moral and religious interests of the people of every land. There was a socialism which tended to uplift the working man, which he ardently supported: also an extreme socialism, largely .identified with anarchism, which acknowledged no law, morality or God, to which he was desperately opposed.
