DEATH OF A TRAINER. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright, I 1 Sydney, January 26. The death has taken place of W. S. Coxwell, the well-known trainer. ' ANNIVERSARY SPORTS. HORSE-RACING, SCULLING, AND RUNNING. Received 26, 10.20 p.m. Sydney, January 26. The weather was fine for the Anniversary Day holiday meeting. Results:— Anniversary Handicap.—Electric Wire 1, King Bee 2, Kurnell 3. Thirteen started, including Chaste. There was a great finish, Electric Wire winning by a short neck, a length and a half between second and third. Time, 2min 35sec. Novice Handicap.—loli 1, Boy Blue 2, Sir Hiram 3. Seven starters. Won by five lengths. Time, lmin 41sec. Tho Anniversary Handicap amateur sculls was won by Lamber. Allcomers' Single Sculls was won by Barley (lOsec), C. Matterson (scr), second. ■ The service whalers' race resulted: Naval Brigade 1 and 2, Cambrian's ci'ew 3. In the service cutters race the Naval Brigade beat the Torch's crew. The amateur 220 yards sprint championship of New South Wales was won iby Redmond. Time, 22 2-ssec. Madeley and Mulligan dead-heated for second place. DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.
