MINERS ENTOMBED. By Telsgrapk—Frees Association. Westport, Friday. Stone in the roof of th« Westport Coal Company's Cascade Mine fell for a distance of twenty yards, blocking the outlet. Eight men were shut in. Rescue parties got to work and released the imprisoned men after two and a half hours' work. None of them were injure*. BOY DROWNED. Dunedin, Last Night. Sydney Charles Mitchell, aged 15 years, the eldest son of Mr. J. W. Mitchell, tailor, of Balclutha, was .drowned to-day while bathing at Kaka Point on the Port Molyneux Beach. ' * Invercargill, Last Night. At the inquest on the body of Edward Rodgers, who was found dead on his bed on Wednesday, the medical evidence was that death was due to suffocation, probably caused by the deceased falling on his bed in a fit (to which he was subject) amd burying his face in the pillow. SUICIDE IN ELTHAM. At Eltham recently John Charles Sixtus suicided by cutting his throat with a pocket knife. Deceased had been in bad health, being under doctors at Waitara and New Plymouth for some time. "Suicide whilst temporarily insane" was the verdict of the coroner.
