Mr. Dick Arnst, the well known athlete, -was married in Sydney yesterday to Miss An?y Williams. Mt. He was a fine type of man, a capable administrator, a considerate chief, and ever ready to- help -'settlerS or local bodies. Mr. Armstrong entered the Survey Department in 1877 as a cadet, and after arriving at the rank of Senior Assistant Surveyor, was on his own application transferred to the office staff. After serving lip that branch for some :ime,he was appointed Chief Draughtsman in the Blenheim office, thence to the same position in Dunedin. Prom Dunedip be was promoted to the position of Chief Surveyor and Commissioner of Crown Lands at New Plymouth.
