THE TOTALISATOR.
CHRISTCIIURCH SITTING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch; Thursday. The Totalisator Commission concluded its Christchurch sitting to-day. 1 Mr. Isitt, M.P., opposed the totalisator on the ground that- it increased the volume of betting, especially in country districts. The totalisatof did not accomplish what its supporters claimed, and bookmaking was still rampant. The Rev. Mr. Gray held similar views. He was opposed >to betting in all forms. When' the liquor question was off their hands, moral reformers would turn their attention' to'this question. Messrs. W. A. MacDougall (totalisator proprietor), R. V. Duncan, and C. 0. Woledge supported the, totalisator.
