ENTERTAINMENTS.
EMPIRE To-night at the Einpire Theatre a cQm t plete new progranune will .presented, numbering several pf, the leading American productions. Amongst these films are several "star" pictures that will be shown at the Empire for the first time in New Zealand. The leading items are: "Little Soldiers of '64" (Kalm special), "Captain Nell" (unique Edison sensation), "The Doomed Ship" (still another Edison star); "Welcome of the Unwelcome" ■, (this is a Vitagraph, featuring John Sunny, the popular little comedian), one'of the greatest comedie* yet released. The powerful drama of the programme is a Itohin masterpiece, "The Wife's Awakening," a thrillingly interesting story of society life, yet completely removed from the usual Continental style of depicting society dramas and incidently much more pleasing to the audience. Other pictures include "New Year Festivities in Japan," "Land of the Fellahs," "Lucerne," and "Barry ami Pogwell sculling." The most humorous items amongst the comics are: "Bill and the Bear" and "An Interrupted Game."
