Miss Rosina Buckman was a passenger by the Rarawa yesterday moraine, A Feilding message reports the death of Mr. F. W- Robertson, aged 94, one of the residents of the district. Mr. G. L. touring manager for Messrs. \Virth's circus, was in town yesterday making arrangements for a one night season ppening on Saturday, February 10.!
A London cablegr'/tm states that it is officially announced .that Sir T. Gibson Carmichael, Governor of Victoria, who was recently raised to the peerage, has been appointed Governor of Bengal. There was an imposing ceremony, attended by a hundred priests, at the reception of Cardinal Bourne in Westminster Cathedral on Sunday afternoon (states a London ca.ble). The Lord Mayor of London and the Mayor of Westminster were among those present.
Mr, H. B, li'ving and Miss Dorothea Baird, the well 'known English actor and actress,' were met by the Mayor (Mr. G. Browne) on the arrival of the Earawa from Auckland yesterday morning, and were given a welcome to the town. The visitors were shown the oil works and the beauty spots of the town. The local branch of the Lafw Society entertained Mr. Irving at midday luncheon.
