A London cable says that Bail Cariiiaje is dead. Mr. C; J; Tregurtha,- a well-known store-keeper of- Palmerston North, died ■on Friday. A Sydney cablegram reports the death of Captain Newton, formerly superintendent of navigation. . Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Lysaght, of Manntahi, left last week on a visit to Great Britain by way of Japan and India. , Mr. 0. Brown, general manager of Messrs. Mrs. Smith, counter assistant at tile New Plymouth Post Office, formerly postmistress at Okaiawa, has been re-trans-ferred to her old position there. Miss Woodman will take Mrs. Smith's place at New Plymoutlu
The death occurred at Carterton on Friday of Mr. John Jones, aged 76, one of the pioneers of the district. Death was the result of heart seizure. Deceased was a prominent Methodist and an esteemed settler.
A Feilding wire announces the death of Mr. Samuel J. Carman, ex-chairman of the Kiwitea County Council, and exmember of the executive of the Wellington Provincial Council of the Farmers' Union.
Mr. D. Ogilvy, at present manager of the Cardiff Factory, has been appointed general factory manager of the T. L. Joll Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., in succession to Mr. V. A. McKenzie. Mr. Ogilvy was formerly in the service of the Joll Company, and left to take charge of Cardiff. Whilst there his company's output secured the highest average grade at the Moturoa Grading Works. Mr. McKenzie, who has been manager for the! J.o^^jsvpany. for» the past 2% years, goes'to Giaborne to take charge of a large proprietary factory <e .—Star.
