"IMPERTINENT!"
FARMERS' UNION SECRETARY AND MAGISTRATE. By Telegraph—Press Asseciation. Blenheim, January 18. At the Magistrate's Court to-day Mr. R. S. Florence, S.M., referred to a letter he had received from the secretary of the Farmers' Union. The letter drew the Magistrate's attention to the fact that at this period of the year the Stipendiary Magistrate often orders men brought before him to clear out to the. country. His Worship said that he was not aware that anything of the sort hud been done by him. He bad often told men to go back to work if the men were from the country. The letter also requested the Magiitrate in future to cease the practice, as there was no police protection in the country. Mr. Florence considered that this portion of the letter was impertinent in telling the judiciary what they should do. Any complaints should be addressed to the justice Department, not to Magistrates or justices.
