A PROFITABLE BANKING COMPANY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received ID, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, January 19. The half-yearly meeting of the Commercial Banking Company showed a profit of £119,890. A 7 per cent, dividend, at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum, was declared. It was decided to increase the capital from £1,250,000 to £1,375,000. *- ■ OVERCROWDED HOSPITAL. Received 19, 10.30 p.m. Sydney, January 19. The overcrowded state of the hospital is causing a great outcry. Mr. Flowers claims that the neglect is due to past governments. The present Government is doing the best it can, but much more is necessary to meet the pressing, demands of. a .large city. INCREASED RENTS. Received 19, 10.30 p.m. ■ Sydney, January 19. Landlords have issued a circular to tenants, increasing the rents, and sadling the State and Commonwealth taxation' with forcing up the rents. NEW SOUTH WALES BANKING.. Received 20, 1.8 m.m. Sydney, January ID. New South Wales banking averages for the December quarter show a drop of % per cent, in the proportion of cash to liabilities on the quarter. The September quarter was excessive. The total deposits on the year increased £5,263,000, and the advances increased £6,540,000 on the per cent.
