CONCLUSION OF THE CONFERENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurcli, Yesterday.. The business of the Primitive Methodist; Conference was concluded to-day. Recommendations from tlie Public Questions Committee were adopted covering resolutions protesting against statements by Roman Catholic speakers adversely criticising the leaders of the Reformation, also against the ne temere decree and the action of the Catholic Church in interfering in -public matters, with special reference to the marching of Government troops through the streets of Wellington in celebration of a Roman Catholic anniversary. Satisfaction was expressed at the licensing poll figures, and opposition declared to sectarian teaching in State schools. A resolution was carried expressing alarm at the growth of gambling. Tt was decided to ask the Minister of Defence to appoint Primitive Methodist chaplains.
