Mitchell Blunno was committed for trial to-day on a charge of sending a letter threatening the life of Windeyer, a glazier. A letter read in Court mentioned Itve affairs, the writer threatening to kill Windeyer, and added: "1 want blood! red, warm and thick! The desire obesses me." WOMEN AND A CHILD'S BODY. Received 17, 11 p.m. Adelaide, January 17. The police arrested two women carrying a basket containing the body of a newly born child. MATAURA DISABLED. Received 18, 1 a.m. Sydney, January 17. The barque Mataura, from Westport to New Britain, put in at Noumea for repairs. She encountered a cyclone on January 8, and her cargo shifted and threw the vessel on her beam ends. There was danger of her foundering. SYDNEY HOSPITALS OVERCROWDED Received 18, 1 a.m. Sydney, January 17. The hospitals in the metropolitan area are seriously overcrowded, and are accepting only urgent cases. SERIOUS BUSII FIRES. Received 18, 1 a.m. Adelaide, January 17. The most serious bush fires for years are raging in the Forest Lodge district.
