The naval and military authorities are testing a rifle-sighting device, invented by Sergeant Ommundsen, a King's (Prize winner, which he claims eliminates tile necessity for judging distance. TEE DAILY MAIL OUP. By Telegraph—Press Association. I Wellington, Last Night. | The Daily Mail Cup, presented by the 1 Daily Mail Proprietary to ,the overseas rifle clubs, has now reached Wellington. The cup was won by the Wellington Suburbs Rifle Club at the last contest. The members comprising the team were Messrs. Newton, Boss, Smart, Gower, Fellinigliam, Jackson, Turner and Milroy. The officers in charge of the range j were Captain Martin and Lieutenants: Mellor and Mee. The cup has been some- j what damaged in transit. The two hundred guinea trophy is accompanied by a smaller cup won outright 'by the successful team. This will be competed for annually by members of the club. The cup now on view has been successively won by the East London Rifle Club, in 1909; by the Bathurst Civilian Rifle Club (New South Wales), in 1909; by the Granville Technical College Rifle Club (New South Wales), in 1910; and by the Wellington Suburbs Defence Rifle Club in 1911. The cup is shot for on Empire Day in each year. It is a magnificent specimen of the silversmith's art, stands 2 feet 11 inches in height, and measures 17 inches across the diameter of the globe.
