A fire destroyed the roof and two top' floors of Brooks, Roberts & Sons' (glaziers and color merchants) six-storeyed warehouse. The damage was extensive. OUTBREAK OF SMALLPOX. Received 16, 9.20 p.m. Sydney, January 16. The Taiyuan has arrived from the East and been quarantined on account of an outbreak of smallpox during the voyage. INTENSE HEAT. Received 17, 12.30 a.m. Melbourne, January 16. The heat is intense in the country. At some stations the shade temperature is 112 deg. VIOLENT ELECTRICAL STORM. Received 17, 12.40 a.m. Melbourne, January 16. Daring a storm at Orange, lightning shattered all the windows on one side of two carriages of a train. The passengers were not hurt. | =====
