"I OBEY!"

A WISH THWARTED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, January 14. Mr. Victor Duval and Mrs. Anna Pugdale, niece of Viscount Peel, a prominent Suffragist, were married in the Chapel Royal. The bride had intended to omit the promise to obey from the service, but the Archbishop of Canterbury, reading the announcement of the intention in the newspapers, informed the chaplain that the omission would render the validity of the marriage doubtful.

The chaplain accordingly stated from the altar,, that be, was obliged to read the complete service, though he hoped the law would be reformed.
