SERIOUS ACCIDENT.

CYCLIST AND VEHICLE COLLIDE.

On Saturday evening an accident of a serious nature occurred through the collision of a young man named Thornton, who was riding a bicycle, and a twowheeled vehicle, the horse of which was driven by a man named Poulette. It appears that the cyclist was riding in the direction of Fitzroy, and when, opposite Mr. Kibby's the accident happened. The cyclist had a light, but it is alleged that the driver of the vehicle had none.

Thornton's injuries consist of a fractured collarbone, fracture of the arm and the small bones tof the hand, and wounds and abrasions generally. He was attended by Dr. Fookes, and taken to the hospital in an unconscious condition, remaining so all night. From enquiries made last night the patient is semi-conscious, but not yet out of danger.
