Onehunga, Friday.—Arrived, at 6.30 a.m., Rosamond, from New Plymouth. THE RARAWA. The Rarawa arrived from Onehunga yesterday morning with a cargo of 60 tons, including 17 tons of cement, 10 tons flour, 13 tons sugar and 160 cases of fruit, besides 3400 ft. of timber. THE PETONE. The Petone was expected to put in an appearance last night or this morning from Newcastle with a cargo" of coal. Later.—The Petone arrived off the wharf at about ten o'clock last night. THE PARITUTU. The Paritutu, which is undergoing overhaul in Wellington, will be placed on the slip on Monday. She will probably return towards the end of the week. COAL FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. It is understood that the Kamona (1425 tons) is to bring a load of State coal to New Plymouth next week. , The Putiki will probably load on Tuesday at Westport for New Plymouth. NEW HOME LINERS. The N.Z. Shipping Co. have been advised by their London office that their new liner Hurunui, of 10,000 tons regis- J ter, has completed her trials in* a highly ..satisfactory manner. She maintained a speed of 15.6 knots on a draught of 21ft. On January 15 she is to leave London for Auckland and Wellington, being due at the former port about February 29. The new Tyser liner ordered last year is approaching completion very rapidly. She is being buijt ort similar lines to the Muritai, but will be larger and have greater cargo-carrying capacity. Attention isi being given to the many requirements of the trade the vessel is intended for. No name has yet been decided on. ■ \ AUCKLAND SHIPPING TRADE. ' 4 ■ The number of oversea vessels arriving at Auckland during the past year shows a substantial increase over the number . of arrivals in the previous year. Last year the inward vessels numbered 294 1,(48 sailers and 240 steamers), the ton['nage being 734,744. For 1910 the numi ber of oversea vessels entering the port was 207, with a ttjnnage of 635,342. The increase in the number of vessels last year was therefore 27, and the increase in tonnage 99,002. The number of steamj ers on the register at the end of last year was 155, with a gross tonnage of j 15,599, and a net tonnage of 9838, being an increase of two vessel as compared j with the previous year. Last year the i sailing vessels registered totajled 146, of | a gross tonnage of 10,217, as against 153, vessels for the previous 12 months,' of 13,776 grass and 12,468 net tonnage. j Mr. A.
