Over six thousand dwellings were erected in the suburbs, and the expenditure on buildings amounted to £6,000,000. The representatives of all industries report remarkable prosperity, with a prospect of j its continuance. AN UNSOLVED TRAGEDY. Sydney, January 11. At the inquest on the Casino tragedy the verdict was that Bertie Gilmore died of gunshot wound self-inflicted, and Mrs. Perkins from a. gunshot wound. There was no evidence to show how it was inflicted. VICTORIAN GOLD YIELD. Melbourne, January 11. The Victorian gold yeld last year was 503,451 ounces, valued at £2,138,903, a decrease of 6822 ounces. MT. LYELL MINE. Hobart, January 11. Five hundred men are working at Mt. Lyell mine. The management can put on an additional-two hundred. REDUCTION OF LICENSES. Melbourne, January 11.
