ENTERTAINMENTS

EMPIRE PICTURES,

Wednesday's programme was repeated last evening and such scenes as "The Klondyke Steal," full of stirring, life, and .brimful of interest, captured the audience. The methods of conveying letters in Central Africa were also as much, appreciated as previously, and the same may be said of the German Army training and the other scenes. The humorous ones also take that part of the audience that enjoys a laugh, while for those who admire the drama there was ample tosatisfy them.' To-night will be the last of this 'attractive programme. To-morrow evening the change of programme will include "The Temptations of a Great City." It depicts life in all stages. The tourist who wanders along unconscious of danger, suddenly sees something which arrests his attention, and he becomes the victim of unscrupulous people, who have beea tempted to pick pockets. The man on the look-out ,for some investment is drawn into a little spiders' web, and, having seen the "running" of things, is led into a business the nature of which brings him to grief. The glitter of high life seems to spell happiness to many attractive women, and they gradually get; into society where there is dancing and gambling, dramas and opera, followed by dinner parties, temptations which seem to temporarily satisfy, but.. afterall, are not conducive to the brightness of life which was expected. The small boy also comes into contact with various temptations. He thinks it .great and wonderful. He fdlows what he thinks is manly, but cannot be induced to forsake what he considers makes life worth living—excitement and adventure.
