"MAD SOCIALISTIC WAVE."
LUGUBRIOUS MR. JELLIOOE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, January 7. The Standard publishes an interview with Mr. E. G. Jellicoe, who says that after revisiting New Zealand he found that all his political views were falsified by the working of socialistic reforms. Individual thrift and enterprise were substantially annihilated, and New Zealand was almost on the brink of ruin. The Arbitration Act was spurious, and had resulted in the creation of a' host of well-paid officials, who lived by harassing trade and industry. A similar mad socialistic wave had overtaken Australia. Mr. Jellicoe is a barrister, who for a number of years practised his profession in Wellington, and a few years ago came into great prominence through coming into conflict with some of the Supreme Court Judges, for Which he was suspended from practice for three months. This decision was subsequentlv reversed, however, by the Judicial Com mittee of the House of Lords. Mr. Jellicoe twice unsuccessfuly contested a Wellington Parliamentary seat.
