From Our Resident Reporter,

should arrive before long. Probably some official opening function will be held, to Which members may invite their friends.' What shall we do with our boys ? That was the old cry. How shall we get sufficient boys for ordinary manual work in the various trades? is the question of the moment. The crop of small boys looks large when one strolls .along the bystreets at eventide. It's might small when a boy is wanted for work. Employers who foregather and talk of the genus boy generally arrive at the conclusion, too, that the boy of io-day is less useful than the boy who entered into an occupation ten or fifteen years ago. He is less amenable to discipline, far too independent, inclined to be cheeky, and not so industrious. Are we over-schooling them and not educating them in the real essentials for life's battle ? Many people will tell you that the advanced schooling given at the public schools to-day has the effect of unfitting the boys and girls for ordinary work, and encourages them to look down upon their parents, who have in many cases not had their advantages. All this is open to argument, of course, but no amount of argument, can increase the supply of the evernecessary boy. Mr. J?."W. Wake, Miss Wake and' Miss '■■ P. Wake will leave Stratford in the course of a week or so on a trip to Sydney. At the Magistrate's Court on Saturday' morning, before Messrs. C..D. Sole and S. Ward, J's.P., a prohibition order was issued against a local resident. Professor Cardston has been very un-1 well during the past week, and it 'has' only been by his almost indomitable' will and energy that Le nas been able to conduct the Fire Brigade Fete. It is un- ' derstood that Mr. Cardston has been dered to the hospital for treatment. The "dancing tour of the world" is to be staged at Eltham shortly, and probably at Inglewood. ;
