In the old days of the navy (says an American paper) many ingenious ineUi.,ds were devised to enable the men to sni'i""le liquor aboard, such as emptying the milk out of cocoanuts and filling them with whisky, imitation Biblas filled with like fluid inspiration, but especially «iiiisii"o skins, not stulied with swine, s ilesh, but well filled nevertheless. In the p.lent office in Washington is (or was) a navy cap with a wide, hollow metal band,'with the smuggled contents of which the owner would get intoxicate!, to the mystification of his vigilant superiors.
