Poultry.—At our last sale in the mar* before Christmas we had a large entry of all classes of poultry. Prices were well maintained throughout. Fat geese and turkeys were in good demand. Prices were as follows: Hens, fat 2» to 2s 6d young Is 4d to Is lid; cockerels, young Is 2d to hs 8d; ducks, Is 3d! to Is 9ddrakes, 2s 2d; fat ducks, 2s 3d to 3sturkeys, hens 4s, gobblers 5s to 8s; geese' 3s Id to 4s; chicks, 4'M>d to fid; hen and chicks, 4s 3d. The usual line of auction sundries re- ' alised satisfactory prices. * Fruit.—Owing to, the holidays this is the first fruit report for some weeks. Fruit has not come forward in extra heavy quantities during Christmas, and consequently prices ruling are high. Prices for the last few weeks, as under, vary according to quality and sizes of boxes. Apricots, 12s case; peaches, 9s case; bananas, ripe 2%d to 3d lb, green. 10s to 10s 6d; cherries, B'/ 2 d to Is 6dtomatoes, liy a d to Is lb, seconds 6d to lid; cocoanuts, 14s sack; apples, 18s to 18s 6d; strawberries, 10% d to la 5d lb; cucumbers, 5s to 6s 3d doz; lemons, 6soranges, 20s U; pines, lis 6d; plums' 4s to 6s Gd; grapes, Is lid 'lb; C.E. plums, 0s to 7s 3d; green peas, 7d to lid peck; cherry plums, 2s to 4s; gooseberries, 5s Od to fis 6d; burbanks, 5s to 5s 3d.
