SURVEYORS' INSTITUTE.

ANNUAL MEETING. By Telegraph— Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The annual general meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors was held to-day, Mr. Tlios. Humphreys presiding. The annual report was adopted. The elections of officers resulted:— Vice-presidents, Messrs. J. W. Davis and J. W. Harrison; councillors, Messrs. P. A. Rich, C. H. Davis, John Edie, R. E. Fry, L. G. R. Hunt, C. M. Hoult, J. P. Larkin, G. A. Martin, R. M. Mclver, and H. R. Young; auditors, Messrs. J. S. Welch and W. S. Wheeler. A lengthy discussion ensued on the scale of charges in view of the large increase in cost of labor and general charges, etc., which have taken place since the present charges were arranged. It was the unanimous feeling amongst members that the scale should be revised. It was resolved: "That a circular be sent to various local committees asking them to submit to the council a suggested scale of charges suitable to the?r respective districts, such scale to be on lines of 1903 scale." A statement in circulation that certain licensed surveyors have been signing plans made by irresponsible persons was discussed, and it was agreed that steps be taken to put a stop if possible to this reprehensible practice.
