CESSION OF THE CONGO. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Paris, January 1. The committee of the Senate is making further enquiries respecting the cession of the Congo. M. Cruppi, Minister of the Interior, declares that tha instructions whereon M. Cambon, Ambassador at Berlin, relied referred exclusively to economic and commercial questions. M. Cambon's despatches imply that the German Minister of Foreign Affairs was the author of the idea.
France is following the subject with intense interest.
THE RIFFIAN TROUBLES. Tangier, January 1. The Riffian troubles have increased through the Spanish police at Tangier imprisoning a Riffian delegate appointed to submit grievances to the Powers.
