In the Senate a sensation was caused by the production of telegrams showing that Jules Cambon received instructions from Signor Cruppi suggesting the cession of territory without the knowledge of the Cabinet or the Prime Minister. Signor Cruppi has written to M. Cailleux denying the authorship of the telegrams.
