As appeals are likely to be entered in the cases of all defendants in the vend case, one will probably be treated as a test case. OATS IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydney, December 29. Statistical returns show that 242,611 acres under oats in New South Wale's will yield an estimated return of 1,715,000 bushels of oats and 180,000 tons of hay. MT. LYELL DISPUTE. Melbourne, December 29. A ballot to decide on the adoption of the agreement with the Mt. Lyell Company resulted in 100 votes being given for and one against. COMMONWEALTH LONDON OFFICE. Melbourne, December 29. The Federal Cabinet has decided to proceed with the acquirement of the Strand site in London, also with the erection of Commonwealth offices. THE LITHGOW STRIKE. Sydney, December 29. The Lithgow strike continues and is now in its twenty-fourth week. The men intend to fight till the non-union-ists are dismissed.
