FRAUDS ON EMIGRANTS

AGENT ARRESTED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyrielit, London, December 28. G. H. Brown, an emigrating agent, has been arrested at Nelson, Lancashire, on a charge of having obtained money on false pretences in connection with forged testimonials for a farm laborer emigrating to Westralia. The Agents-General are co-operating in the prosecution. A high Canadian emigration authofity, 'interviewed by the Pall Mall Gazette, states that the number of unscrupulous agents has enormously increased, and a series of prosecutions will probably take place.
