SAWMILLS DESTROYED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, December 20. Bush fires are raging in the Glen Inncss district. Some big sawmills, also a residence adjoining the town, have been destroyed. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. Brisbane, December 20. The worst bush fires experienced in the Crows'* Nest district are raging. The damage to fences alone is over £IOOO. A number of huts and sheds have also been burner.

FIRE AT WOOL-SCOURIXG WORKS.

Sydney, December 29. At midnight a fire at Elliott and Co.'s wool-scouring works at Botany destroyed the washhouse, engine shed and wool loft. A large quantity of wool was damaged. The loss, which is estimated at £15,000, is covered by insurance.

BUSINESS BLOCK DESTROYED. Sydney, December 20. The Xarrabri fire spread with' great rapidity. Most of the dwellings were weather-board structures. Xo fire-fight-ing apparatus was available, the water supply was poor, and residents were compelled to stand practically idle and watch the blaze. The whole of the chief business block was destroyed. Many occupants lost everything but their night attire. Twenty thousand pounds is a low estimate of the damage.
