EARTHQUAKE AND DELUGE.

DUNEDIX WET AND SHAKEN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. Two distinct earthquake shocks were felt here to-night, shortly before ten o'clock, lasting about 15 seconds. Heavy rain has been falling almost the whole of the day, and the residents of North East Valley, who suffered severely on Sunday as a result of a cloud burst, are again having a very anxious time. This afternoon a few residents of th« lower levels were alarmed 'by the rise of Lindsay's Creek, but no actual damage was done. Bain fell heavily, however, throughout the evening, and' it is understood that there was 2 feet or 3 feet of water at Roberts' store near the Gardens at II p.m. Tt is also stated that the cars were unable to proceed beyond the Gardens after 10.1.j p.m. At 11.15 p.m. rain is still falling heavily.
