The annua picnic of the Sunday School was hel< in the Recreation Grounds on Boxin* Day, at which there was a very goo< attendance of parents and friends. The garden party at Mr. Parli's farn under the auspices of the Presbyteriai Church was also well attended. Variou means of entertaining visitors and a the same time swelling the funds weri in evidence. The "toboggan slide" wa kept very busy all the afternoon, ant the shooting gallery and "Aunt Sally' were also very well patronised. Mr Richardson had gone to a great deal o trouble to construct a "merry-go-round,' but, owing to the very wet weather, hi was unable to try it before the day and it did l not work too well until i: was nearly time to break up for the day However, it was in good running ord«i for the next day, and is at the time owriting "merrily-going-round" righi enough. Saturday night being wet, there was not Jthe crowd of peopJe taboiut th< streets that there would otherwise hav< been. However, a . good number turnec out in spite of the wet, and tilings were fairly lively until midnight. The new band rotunda is slowly creep ing on towards completion, and should—all being well—be ready for use some time before next Christmas.
