FIRES AT STRATFORD.
On Monday night next, at the Town liall, Stratford, a somewhat unique and charming extravaganza, entitled "A Dancing Tour of tin', World." is to eventuate. Professor Owen Cardston. Australia's premier dancer, arrived in .Stratford a fortnight ago in order to prepare the 200 persons taking part in the entertainment. The Stratford Fire Brigade, always to the fore, are out after a motor engine to bring their somewhat obsolete equipment up to the standard of other towns. In order to raise funds to complete the purchase of same the above entertainment is being held, and will be continued for six nights. Bumper houses should be the order of the day. Visiting firemen are expected from as far as New Plymouth and Ilawera to help their brother officers in so noble a cause. The entertainment is varied to a degree, and already is the talk of Taranaki. In all 200 people take part in this, the first pageant of its kind in Taranaki. Everything is new and novel in these parts. The costumes to be worn are in keeping with the production, and the glitter and varied colors alone will be well worthy of a visit. The Suffragettes' March on Stratford will be awaited with interest. A synopsis of the production will appear in tomorrows issue. An orchestra has been engaged, and all points well to a successful opening on Monday night next. The box plan opens at Stubbs' music warehouse on Friday morning at 10 a.m. for the first two performances.
