A RUSSIAN'S DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Saturday. At an inquest concerning the death of John Klein, a Russian, aged 35, who had been drinking heavily, the jury returned a verdict, according to the medical testimony, that death was due to syncope arising from a fatty degeneration of the heart, and added a rider that they were of opinion that if deceased had had proper treatment and nourishment his life might have been prolonged. OLD LADY'S SUDDEN DEATH. Dunedin, Monday. Isabella Cuinming, aged S3 years, died suddenly at her residence in Mornington yesterday. Deceased, who resided with her sister, also an old woman, was attended, by Dr. Church a few months ago for bronchitis. At that time Dr. Church had difficulty in getting into the house. Deceased's sister objected to a doctor being called in. Deceased caught a chill on Tuesday, and took to her bed on Thursday. Dr. Church cannot giTe a certificate of death.

Dunedin, Last Night. At the inquest on the body of Miss Cumming, aged 83 years, who died at Mornington on Saturday, a veriict was returned that death was due to sudden heart failure, the result of acute pneumonia and senile decay. FOUND DEAD. Christchurch, Sunday. Early yesterday morning Martha Par-' ish, 03 years of age, wife of Isaac Parish, of Burwood, was found dead in bed. At the inquest a verdict of death from heart failure was returned. A FATAL FIRE. Napier, Sunday. At two o'clock this morning a fourroomed cottage at Port Ahuriri, occupied by George Dixon, was completely destroyed by fire. Mr. and Mrs. Dixon were away on holidays in Auckland, but the body of a boarder named' Lars Anderson, better known a 9 Charles Anderson, was found in the ruins. Anderson was a fisherman, 41 years of age, and a widower, with no relations in New Zealand. YOUNG MAN'S SUICIDE. Wellington, Monday. The body of Cyril Aston, aged 27, who had been missing since December 7, was found at Karori yesterday with a bullet wound in his head. At an inquest today a verdict was returned that he died from a bullet wound, but there was no evidence to show .how it was inflicted. AN UNFORTUNATE CASE. Wellington, Last Night. An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of Mary Burnip, a middle-aged woman, who was found dead on Monday morning in Francis place. The evidence showed deceased was drunk and was put out of the house by the other occupants. She lay down in an outhouse, and in the morning was found dead in the kitchen. Dr. Pyfl'e. who conducted the post mortem, said death was due to hemorrhage, probably brought on by alcohol. The coroner entered a. verdict accordingly. DIED IN HER CHAIR. Gisborne, Last Night. An elderly woman named Adelia Hastie was found dead in a chair in her house early on Sunday morning. At the subsequent inquest medical testimony, after a post morten examination, was that death was due to heart disease, accelerated by indulgence in alcoholic liquors. A verdict was returned accordingly. DEATH FROM SPINAL INJURY. Dunedin, Last Night. James Mchalski, who was admitted to the hospital on the 7th inst., suffering from a spinal in jury-as the result of an accident in the Catling district, died in the institution yesterday. The police are now making enquiries regarding the accident with a view to holding an inquest.
