WELLINGTON EVENING SPORTS. , By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In the two mile handicap at the Evening Sports Meeting to-night, G. N. Hill (Auckland) won from scratch in 9min. 36 2-osec., beating the New Zealand record by 5 4-osec. R. Opie won his heat of the 100 yds event against a light wind in 10 2-ssec, but did not start in the final.
In the two-mile walking event, Ellis (Tasmania) beat Kerr (New Zealand) by about 10 yards. The walking of all competitors was not above question. The Australian visiting athletes were given a civic reception this evening by thf Mayor.
