The Estimates for 1912 show a deficit of £2,1-87,000 sterling, mainly due to the widening of the Kiel Canal. As compared with 1911, the navy expenditure is increased £1.270,000, and the armv £ J,000,000. GERMAN DEFENCE LEAGUE. Received 20. 11.20 p.m. Berlin, December 20. A National Defence League is forming to help the a.nwy. on similar lines to those employed by the Navv League.
