The Catholic Bishop of Kildare declared that the murder of Mrs. O'Mara, a farmer's wife who was shot dead while answering the door, covered the people with shame. It was tho natural outcome of a disgraceful system of intimidation, - and " moonlighters'" immunity from punishment. People in certain districts of County Clare had. he added, become completely demoralised.
