A meeting of the Metropolitan Committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club was held last evening, Mr. Lepper occupying the chair: There were also present: Messrs. Thompson, King, Alexander, Orbell, Webster, Weston, Elliott, Nolan, Blundell, and Standish. Trainers' licenses were granted to W. Elliott and P. E. Fuggle. A jockey's license was granted to James Kruse. Gentlemen riders' licenses were granted to T. L. Paget, A. Mitchell, W. F. Tattersall and F. Aubrey. The programme for the Opunake Rac- * ing Club's meeting for March 18 was ap- f proved. TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. Subsequently the committee met, the same members attending. The following correspondence was read: —From E. Whittle in reference to alteration of bar at publican's booth. — The matter will be discussed after the Xmas meeting. From H. Greville yi reference to Hutchison's patent jockey scales—Mr. Greville will be advised that there is no objection to the erection of the scales for inspection at the February meeting. Two new members, Messrs. Frank Marsh and W. Emeny, were elected., Two resignations were accepted. Accounts totalling £33 8s were passed for payment. The silent totalisator has been completed and erected by Messrs. Turnbull and Jones. The usual special trains will run to serve the forthcoming meeting to take place next Tuesday and Wednesday.
