THE NEW EMPIRE THEATRE. On Saturday next Saunders' Biograph Pictures move into their m:\v home in . the magnificent new Empire Theatre. To celebrate this event Mr. Saunders has de- | eided to run a continuous picture show all through the day, coinmencing at 11 a.m., and continuing ur»til 11 p.m. The prices of admission throughout the whole | day will he adults 6d, children 3d. This I departure will no do*ht prove extremely popular with the Christmas Eve crowd, as they can enter the theatee at any time during the evening and yet see the full programme. It is a case of come in when you like, go out when you /like, stop all day if you care to. Tuesday night, December 2C> (first race night) is the grand opening night, when the first "all star Empire programme" will be presented. "Zigomar," the production at present creating a furore (for the second week) in Christchurch, will be the star on the star programme. When asked about "Zigomar" and the other star feature films arranged for, Mr. Saunders merely smiles and replies, "Wait." From which the anxiouslywaiting picture patrons (and numerous others who are not yet picture patrons) will easily gather that not only will they have one of the finest picture theatres (absolutely fireproof) in the Dominion, but can rest assured that the finest pictures produced will be regular and early arrivals at the Empire Theatre. HUDDERSFIELD BELLRINGERS BAN». A unique combination i* the above band, who visit heTe on Friday next, under the direction of J. and N. Tait, composed) almost exclusively of working men who devoted their leisure time to the cultivation of this intricate art. The band has achieved remarkable success, having now attained the honor of being champions of Britain, which practically means the whole world. During their ( season here the band's programme willinclude the following items:—"ties Pantries," "Champion Grenadiers," "Frieiid!ship," "Caliph-di-Bagdnd," "Hallelujah Chorus," "Kyrie and Gloria," "Lead Kindly Light," "Nearer My God to Thee," "Sailor's Life," "William Tell," "In My Cottage," "Yip-I-Addiy," "Hawigan," and selections from well known operas. The ba-nd, we are told, controls .225 hells, ranging from 2oz to 2:jMba, and from reports to hand the music is most remark-, able. Several well laiown English artists assist the band, so they should i draw packed houses here. Popular prices are to be charged, and seats may be re•erveci at Collier's.
