Following is the High Commissioner'iS report under date London, December 16 (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Mutton.—The market is firm. There is dull sale for all qualities, but stocks on hand are light, and small shipments are expected. Canterbury 4%d, North Island l 4d. Lamb. —Better demand. Australian supplies are increasing, but the New Zealand stock is exhausted. Australian 4d to 4%<L Beef.—The market is very firm. No shipment of North American has* 'been made (for three weeks, and stocks of New Zealand on hand are light. New Zealand, hinds 3y B d, New Zealand forte 2%d. Butter.—Th<* market is firm, with good demand. The average price for week for choicest New Zealand is 1325, Australian 1275, Argentine 128s, Danish 1385., Siberian 120s. Cheese.—The market is firm, with more enquiry. The average price for the week for finest New Zeajand cheese was 695.
Hemp.—The market is quiet but steady at about quotations already given. New Zealand good' fair on spot £l9 10s, New Zealand fair grade £l9, fair current Manila £2O. Forward shipment of New Zealand good fair £2O, New Zealand fair grade £l9, fair current Manila £2O 10s. The output, from ; Manila for the week was 26,000 bales. Wool—The market remains firm for all grades. Wheat.—The market is very quiet at last quotations, viz., Long-berried 35s Gd, per quarter; short-berried, ,34s Gd per quarter. 1 Oats.—The market is firm with an improved demand. New Zealand short sparrwvbiils ex-gra.na.ry per quarter (384Jbs) 23s 6d, Danish per quarter (3201b5) 19s 6d. !
