WRESTLING
~t» TARANAKI MIDDLE-WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. It is some time now since a wrestling championship has been held in New Plymouth, and much interest is therefore being evinced in the championship match which is to be held in the Theatre Royal on Wednesday evening. The main attraction of the evening is a match for i the middle-weight championship of Taranaki between Mr. Urquhart, of Stratford (holder), and E. Hine, who is an aspirant for the title. Mr. Urquhart only took to wrestling about three years ago. He was a very enthusiastic gym : nast in Scotland, and in 1900 won the i horizontal bar championship of the West lof Scotland, at Glasgow. In 1901 he ) was picked as the ninth best gymnast in Scotland, just missing inclusion in the international team, which was composed of eight men. Soon after serving in the South African war he came to New Zealand. His wrestling career has been a successful one. On December 23. 1910 he defeated E. Hine. On January 5, 1911' he defeated W. Clover, of Toko. On February 18 he stood up against Louis S. Robertson, light and middle-weight professional champion of New Zealand at Ohura, for 16 minutes, in response to- an offer of a gold medal to anyone who would stand up for 10 minutes. On August-5 last he also defeated the Ohura champion, T. Shegadim, by two straight falls. E. Hine is also in good nick, and is anxious to avenge his former defeat so a good match is anticipated. In addition there are good entries in the novice events, which should supply good amusement. °
