The Princess Royal asked 'Mr. Essery, their family doctor, Messrs. McCaul and Bell, passengers, and Haikett, the caricaturist, to accompany the party. When the boat swamped the Princess Alexandra and Messrs. Bell and Haikett were swept overboard. The Duke of Fife and the Princess Royal seized the Princess Maud as the boat capsized. With the Admiral they were washed shorewards. Meanwhile Bell caught the Princess Alexandra and swam with her until they secured a foothold. Bluejackets assisted them ashore. Princess Alexandra fainted on landing. Messrs. Essery and Haikett had the narrowest of escapes. THE DELHI'S MAILS. POSSIBILITY OF SAVING THE SHIP. . •"< Received 17, 5.5 p.m. Tangier, December M. The Delhi's mails and luggage are being landed, and the salvors hope to save the ship, ' THE CAPTAIN'S STATEMENT. Tangier, December 15. The captain of the Delhi says he was steaming slowly and continuously using the lead, when the vessel suddenly \%touched, three times and then remained fast. Heavy rain obscured the land. The crew are landing slowly, but 160 are still aboard, also a passenger whose left leg is broken, and it is impossible to land him by a rope. Two British bluejackets and two of the Delhi's Lascars were drowned while engaged ia rescue work. A CALL FOR HELP IGNORED.
