THE AMERICAN WOMAN
A FRIGID CREATURE. Jt is the diseased humility of the American man which has created the cold, callous, and .pitiless American woman. The American beauty as you see her depicted in American magazines is a frigidly contemptuous creature, with scornful lips and infinitely crafty affestation in her eyes. She looks at the world as if it were a powder puff or a vanity box for her adornment. She is free' from sentiment. She is devoid of romance. Her face is a carved image of materialism. There is no softness in it, no tenderness, no maternal love. The American ideal of feminine fascination is a hard worldlincss with a high polish of meretricious 'brilliancy. American civilisation is cruel money at one end and cruel womanhood at the other. It is the heart worship of money that has produced the worship of the woman without a soul. Cold love is the daughter of hard cash.
