NEW PLYMOUTH. Concert.—'The pupils of Miss Smith L.A.8., L.T.C.L., and Miss Pike, L.A.8., gave a very enjoyable concert in tli€ Good Templar Hall last Wednesday evening. but. to my mind, encores should be strictly prohibited, in a lengthy pro gramme. Every pupil simply excelled himself or herself, and to see the proud look on each parent's face was worth going to see. IJmikiiig-l'p. -Yesterday afternoon Miss Shaw's school, held its annual breaking-iip ceremony in the Te llenu schoolroom, and quite a jolly time was spent watching the tinv mites <;o througli their set performances. After the prize? were presented (this being done by tilt l!ev. Kimpthorne) a dainty afternoon ten was served. The ceremony was 1 opuned with a" musical play, "Aladdin," by the senior girls, all rendering their ] parts in a very creditable manner, while musical drill and songs were given by the kindergarten. Tapley, of Dunedin, has been on a short visit to New Plymouth, but! left by the mail train this morning. Mrs. J. Hempton, who has been on a visit to Wellington, has returned to New Plymouth. Mrs. P. Fitzherbert (Dannevirke) is the guest of her mottar, Mrs. A. C. Fookes. Mr. T. Fenton, of the Art School, Master ton, has come to spend his Christmas holidays in New Plymouth.. Mrs. Basham (Eltham) is on a visit to New Plymouth.
