THE REVOLT IN CHINA.
HORRIBLE ATROCITIES. RIVER BANKS STREWN WITH CORPSES. CANNIBALISTIC PRACTICES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. ■Brisbane, December 14, Files by the Changsha, which has arrived at Cairns, contain information of horrible atrocities in connection with the Chinese revolution. Since the piratical attacks on the steamers Kwong-Yuen and Shinon, trade on the West River is at a standstill. The banks of the river near Wuchow are strewn with corpses, many of them headlws and denuded of clothing. Following the massacre at Wuchow, the soldiers indulged in a fearful orgy. After sixty prisoners, many of them sons of local gentry who were suspected of favoring the Loyalists, lad been beheaded, the soldiers, in their thirst for blood, cut out their hearts and ate them. Some cooked them, and others devoured them raw.
