AN* AGREEMENT REACHED. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. London, December 11. Both sides of the railway conference accepted a scheme practically as embodied in the report. The companies made a concession in other matters, including the status of casual laborers. PARTICULARS OF AGREEMENT. Received 12. 11 p.m. London, December 12. "Modifications made in connection with the railway conference will tend to speeding the work of the conciliation boards. Each company settles the increase of wages and reduction of hours, giving an answer in writing within six weeks of a petition by *25 per cent, of the employees of any grade. The boards meet next May. Alterations will not operate till July. It was agreed that casual hands be paid hourly rates, not lower than the minimum rates of permanent men. The executives of four unions decided to accept the agreement, and the directors regarded it as a fair compromise. The men's leaders are confident of their ability to persuade the employees to accept the terms.
