LITHGOW FINES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 9, 1 a.m. Sydney, December 8. All fines in connection with the Lithgow strike were paid to-day. A TERRIFIC RAINSTORM. Received 9, 1 a.m. Adelaide, December 8. An extraordinary storm occurred at Bowhill, on the River Murray. Five inches of rain fell in twenty minutes, and crops were washed out by the roots. FIRE AT CAMPERDOWN. Received 8, 11 p.m. Sydney, December 8. A lire at Camperdown in Mr. Workfold's Carriage Manufacturing Company destroyed a large quantity of timber and machinery. Mr. Workfold'e private residence adjoining was destroyed. The damage is estimated at £6OOO. A second fire afterwards broke out in Guthridge Company's factory, and the stock was badlv damaged. The stock included a quantity of "raekarock," which exploded. The damage is £3OOO. AN AUSTRALIAN'S VIEWS. Sydney, December 8. Mr. Sutton, a prominent member of the Licensed Victuallers' Association, declared (hat New Zealand's prohibition question was momentous. The world was watching and awaiting the answer. If New Zealand voted prohibition she would go the same way as the prohibition .States of the United States—towards insolvecy.
