Mr. Bonar Law, at Bootle, emphasised the utter impossibility of Home Rule being carried, as part oi the Liberals had made a corrupt political bargain. He remarked that although to grant Home Rule, from a party standpoint, would be an advantage to the Unionists, inasmuch as the Nationalists were solidly against them, the Unionists were determined to oppose Home Rule to the last gasp. When the time came there would be no shrinking. Strong action was required to defeat one of the most ignoble conspiracies ever formed against the liberties of frceborn men.
