FIRES.
A BOARDING HOUSE GUTTED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Thursday. At 4.30 this morning a five-roomed boarding establishment, known as Wellington House, was completely gutted by fire. The brigade was promptly on tho scene; their excellent work preventing what threatened to be a disastrous conflagration, as Johnston and Co.'s bond store and timber merchant's establishment adjoined the burning building, and a gale of wind was blowing. The building was owned by Salek, Wellington; the insurances are unknown. If your property is not insured, call at or ring up the United Insurance Company, Ltd., Devon street; telephone 198. Webster Bros., District agents. Insurances effected on the most favorable terms.—Advt.
