HOSPITAL BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday, when there were present: Messrs F. C. licllringer, Or. W. Browne, W. Cutfield, E. Maxwell, M. J. Macßeynolds, D. McAUum, J. Brown and D. H. Mac Donald. OLD PEOPLE'S HOME. Mrs. Bayly, matron of the Old People's Home, reported that everything had been progressing favorably during the month. The supplies had been very good indeed. The discipline had been good. There had been one admission and three departures. The number of inmates remaining in the home was 9 females and 22 males. MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT.

Mr. D. S. Wylie, P.R.C.S., actingmedical superintendent, reported that the number of patients admitted to the hospital during the month was 23, and the number discharged 33. There had been four deaths, and the number o/ patients remaining in the institution at the end of the month was 25. The number of operations performed was 19. THANKS. Amy M. Bock wrote from the New Plymouth Gaol as have received per Mr. Coyle your board's very kind offer of employment at the Old People's Home here, and beg to say that I am sincerely grateful for the chance you are giving me, and will do all in my power to prove my gratitude. I only want the permission of the Justice Department to accept same, which I am sure they will not refuse. Once more thanking your board."

'URUTI DISTRICT NURSE. Nurse O'Callaghan reported that during her term as district nurse at Uruti she attended 50 cases. To some of these she only paid one visit, and to others several visits, There were eight maternity patients, the others being accidents and medical cases. The longest distance she had had to travel to cases was twenty mfleM. The board decided to place on record its high appreciation of the work of Nurse "O'Callaghan whist occupying the position as district nurse at Uruti, and expressing regret at her resignation. The nurse who succeeds Nurse O'Callaghan as district nurse will take up her duties on December 20. GENERAL. A circular letter from the Inspectorfieneral of Hospitals with reference to the hours of work by nurses was referred to the medical superintendent for a report. The clerk of the Taranaki County Council wrote that his couneil desired the board to enter into an agreement to re-instate the Elliot road and David street, Westown, damaged by the extraordinary traffic conducted by the board. —To bo attended to. The name of Mr. McAllum was added to the House Committee. Mr. Kendall (inspector) submitted his monthly report, dealing with various matters which had come under his notice during he past month.—This + was considered and approved. The name of Miss W. E. Waite, of Waitangi. Tarata, was added to the probationers' Mil. Accounts were passed for payment as follows: Hospital £4G4 15s, charitable aid £l2O Is 7d.
